It has been a long and arduous planning process, as I work to open my first location of Vent Blow Dry Bar.
Although it has been a struggle, with many frustrations and countless delays, it is one that I know will be worth the wait. I had hoped to be open months ago but in some ways am fortunate to have the extra time to plan and make sure everything is just right! As we move into 2017, I know it won’t be much longer before I get the final construction processes underway and start planning vent’s grand opening.
Like many people, my husband and I spent today shopping, not for the Boxing Day door crashers; we spent the day searching for commercial kitchen appliances … figures there were no sales on these big-ticket items! Who knew these contraptions could achieve a 2-minute wash cycle! Something I would have never cared to know, but when you open a business you gain knowledge on things you never thought possible (or important). For the most part I have had to research and figure things out on my own, but I have been fortunate to have many people help me along the way for which I am grateful. Something that has been amazing throughout this process is that once I was open to taking the risk and making a change, new doors have opened and amazing connections have presented themselves. I have met some fabulous people and made connections that will be valuable beyond measure.
Needless to say, there are no days off from this journey, even at Christmas! Opening a business, as I am learning, is no easy task. You really have to be dedicated and love what you are doing as sometimes it seems there are more losses than wins. For me, having my own business has been my dream for as long as I can remember and one that I am willing to do whatever it takes to achieve. The saying is true, “if it were easy, everyone would do it”.
