It doesn’t look like much right now, but soon it will be the elegant and sophisticated home of Vent Blow Dry Bar.
After years of dreaming and many months looking for the perfect locale, I am beyond excited to announce that construction has begun on our first location! With so many amazing spots to choose from in the 416, it was difficult but well worth the wait. I am thrilled to have landed in the perfect neighborhood of Liberty Village.
Planning is well underway with an outstanding architect and designer from Toronto – PROP Architecture and Design, along with an amazing construction team. I am so thrilled about the plans so far!
The vision for VentT is to fill a gap in the hair industry, by providing an alternative to the full-service salon. Where women can get an affordable blowout in a unique atmosphere complete with high quality, beautiful finishes. The atmosphere will be comfortable yet energizing, and don’t forget the bubbly! Appointments are welcome, but not necessary.
Having our clients leave feeling confident and beautiful is what it’s all about. Life is busy and full of appointments; we want our clients to come for an experience.
We can’t wait for you to come VENT with us!
Well here it goes, my first blog post …eek! This is a big deal for me, because I am officially stepping outside my comfort zone into an entirely new world and I’ve gone way past the point of no return. And now that I am officially on the other side, it feels great!
To provide a quick snapshot of my life – I’m 40 years old, mother to three exceptional kids and married to an incredibly supportive wonderful man. Life is good, but predictable.
I have always had a busy career, but often felt there was more to life that I wasn’t exploring. I have been very fortunate to work with amazing people and do amazing things throughout my career, but for the last few years I felt as though I lost my flame. The daily grind of our life was on repeat with nothing new and exciting on the horizon. I was going through the motions of life and felt very unfulfilled.
These feelings, combined with turning 40 caused me to do a lot of reflecting and soul searching. I said to myself, “holy shit, I’m 40, is this how I want to live the rest of my life?” Don’t get me wrong, life has been great thus far, but when you only get one shot at it, I wanted to do everything I could to take a chance and chase my dream. I wanted to be excited for the future.
Entrepreneurs are people I have always admired for their sense of adventure and willingness to take risks. The idea of designing, launching and running a new business from virtually nothing was a challenge that created a fire in me again. I found that it was all I could think about and realized thinking wasn’t enough. I needed to move to the next stage and give my idea some serious consideration. Once I got over the fear of failure and figured out how to make it work financially, I was ready! So, with the unconditional support of my family I decided to take a chance and step outside my comfort zone. I became determined to go for my dream of starting my own business and join the world of entrepreneurship! I quit my full time job almost a year ago and I haven’t looked back.
Building a business from the ground up isn’t easy, in fact it’s really hard, but it’s also very exciting and personally rewarding. I am doing my best to include my three children throughout this process. I felt this was important because I am always telling them that they can be anything and do anything they desire in life, but sometimes as parents we don’t always follow our own advice. I hope that by involving them it will teach them that it’s never too late to do what you love and make a change. I truly feel that this is the beginning of the rest of my life!
Still in the early stages, but getting closer every day. Follow me on this journey as I document the process from the beginning to opening day!
